Job Description

The HVAC Maintenance Worker is responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

Installs, inspects, tests, operates, and repairs all refrigeration and related equipment for preserving food, making ice, cooling water, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation.

Calibrates, repairs, and maintains all pneumatic control systems and related equipment.

Checks, services, cleans, and replaces filters in all A/C air handling and heating units and documents the same.

Cleans and maintains grills, ducts, and shaft ways in A/C, ventilating, and exhaust systems.

Understands and demonstrates knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes and practices, and coordinates work between/with other trades.

Completes preventative maintenance as scheduled and keeps records?

Responds to any emergency repair/maintenance situation as required?

Maintains critical inventory needed to keep operations running; maintains and accounts for tools used?

Repair compressors by diagnosing and replacing faulty components in refrigeration and air conditioning units.

Troubleshoot motors and fans by diagnosing and replacing blower motors, condenser fans, and evaporator fans.

Repair or replace faulty thermostats and ensure accurate temperature regulation.

Fix leaks, blockages, and perform insulation for pipes and ductwork.

Repair electrical components to include wiring, fuses, circuit breakers, and relays within HVAC systems.

Ensuring safe installation, repair, and servicing of gas lines connected to heating systems.

Maintains a friendly, efficient, and positive attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers?

Qualifications

Journeyman HVAC Certification required

EPA certification required?

10 years of previous HVAC experience required?

Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal?

Must be able to follow safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks?

Experience

Heating Systems: Furnaces (gas, electric, oil), boilers, and heat pumps.

Cooling Systems: Central air conditioners, ductless mini-splits, and walk-in coolers.

Refrigeration Equipment: Commercial refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines.

Air Quality Equipment: Air filters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilation systems.

Controls: Programmable thermostats, control systems, and building automation systems.

Required Skills

1. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.

2. Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical problems in HVAC systems.

3. Electrical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, along with knowledge of circuit components.

4. Safety Standards: Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations, ensuring compliance with local codes and national standards (e.g., EPA, NATE).

5. Customer Service: Effective communication skills to interact with clients and explain technical information in understandable terms.

6. Problem Solving: Critical thinking and analytical skills for evaluating system performance and identifying solutions.

7. Installation Skills: Proficiency in installing various HVAC systems and components, including ductwork, refrigerant lines, and thermostats.

8. Preventive Maintenance: Understanding how to perform routine maintenance tasks and checks to ensure systems operate efficiently.
