Description:
The successful candidate will conduct research on designing, development, prototyping, and testing innovative transportation technologies for connected and autonomous vehicles, focusing on sensing, perception, control, and vehicle–infrastructure communication.
Responsibilities include development, prototyping, experimental validation, and assist with technical oversight, project coordination.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
North Carolina A&T State University is a public, doctoral high research land-grant University that enrolls over 15,000 students. The College of Engineering, with over 2,500 students, has EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET -accredited program in Computer Science. On the Graduate level, the College has 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and 5 Doctoral programs distributed across its seven departments. The five research cluster areas of the College of Engineering ( COE ) are Autonomous Systems, Cybersecurity and Resilience, Energy and Sustainability, Healthcare Applications and Complex Systems and Networks; where the COE welcomes faculty dedicated to engaged teaching, innovative research, and who thrive in an environment that embraces diversity and inclusion within the student body, faculty, and staff. Requirements:
1- Relevant post-baccalaureate degree required in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial and Systems Engineering or related area; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and three or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
2. A strong theoretical and experimental background with evidence of skills related to
autonomous vehicle technology and transportation technology.
3. The candidate is expected to have good skills in writing scientific papers and
technical reports.
4. Possess a high level of initiative and the ability to multitask involving different research problems.
5. Possess good organizational skills; detail oriented.
6. Demonstrated integrity, dependability, and competence.
7. Able to work independently requiring minimal supervision.
8. Able to make presentations utilizing excellent oral communication and facilitation skills.
9. Strong critical thinking, analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
1- Good programming skills such as Python, C++, and ROS ,
2- Experience with development and deployment of AI models
3- Knowledge and experience with computer vision,
4- Experience with edge devices
5- Experience with high computing performance systems
6- Project management skills.
