College Assistant - Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry - Two Vacancies
GENERAL DUTIES
• Greet and assist guests who visit the office.
• Answer and direct phone calls.
• Distribute daily mail to faculty and staff mailboxes.
• Accept, log, and notify recipient of packages.
• Restock chalk, pens, and markers on front desk for teaching assistants.
• Help faculty and staff use the photocopiers. Check daily to make sure there is paper in them.
• Keep track of departmental keys. Open offices and rooms for faculty and staff who need access.
• Assist with departmental digitization project by scanning employee and budget files.
• Shred old exams and sensitive documents.
• Perform other clerical and typing duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
• Carry out general office duties as described above.
• Open and close the office according to schedule.
• Respond to inquiries on the department’s email account daily without assistance.
• Request semester syllabi from teaching faculty.
• Assist with weekly Monday seminar and other departmental events.
• Update and print faculty and directory posters. Post them in designated bulletin boards.
• Create and print event flyers and informational posters on Canva as needed.
• Update and maintain Word/Excel faculty and staff directory.
• Update content on departmental website: www.ccny.cuny.edu/chemistry.
• Create and manage inventory spreadsheet of A/V and Computer equipment loaned to faculty and teaching assistants
• Maintain stock of paper and office supplies. Inform HE Assistant when items need to be ordered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.
COMPENSATION
Salary: $20 per hour
