    Academic Program Manager (HEA) - Deputy Director, ACE and Transfer Success

    POSITION DETAILS

    CUNY’s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and Accelerate, Complete, and Engage (ACE) are comprehensive college degree completion programs. CUNY ASAP|ACE provides comprehensive and personalized support and resources to students that help remove barriers to full-time study, support academic momentum, and build a connected community. Support and resources include personalized advisement, career counseling, tutoring, tuition gap scholarships, and additional financial assistance to cover the cost of textbooks.

     

    The ACE Program at Queens College (ACE QC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Director to lead key aspects of the program, including academic advising, student engagement, program management, and daily office operation. Reporting to the Senior Director for Transfer Success and Partnerships, this individual will play a vital role in advancing student success and supporting the program’s strategic goals. In addition to the duties outlined in the CUNY Title Overview, the Deputy Director will:

     

    + Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of advisors and program staff focused on student retention, persistence, and degree completion.

    + Oversee the accurate and timely entry and of student enrollment and engagement data.

    + Regularly review advisor caseload reports to monitor progress toward success benchmarks and identify areas for additional support.

    + Communicate updates on college advisement, enrollment procedures, and academic policies to staff and students.

    + Lead the planning and execution of student onboarding, advising, and engagement initiatives.

    + Assist the senior director with required data analysis, reporting, and overall program management.

    + Collaborate with faculty, cross-divisional college units, and the CUNY Central Office on initiatives that promote student achievement.

    + Support projects and partnerships aimed at enhancing transfer student success and strengthening collaborations with community college partners.

    + Serve as the acting administrator in the senior director’s absence and represent the program in college and university meetings as assigned.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the campus’ program and academic leadership.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience. An earned master’s degree in a related field may substitute up to two years of experience.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline, e.g., higher education administration, counseling, social work, etc. and six years of progressive experience in higher education, academic advising, or student academic services.

     

    + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments/units.

    + Possess a solid understanding of the interconnectivity of key student success functions, including recruitment and admissions, advising, student engagement, and financial aid.

    + Experience using data to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes.

    + Understand the experiences of historically marginalized racial groups in the U.S in education, particularly Black, Indigenous, and Latinx groups.

    + Ability to establish inclusive and equitable working relationships with students and peers

    + Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Excel and Access, Student Information System (e.g., CUNYfirst/PeopleSoft), Student Success Management System (e.g., Navigate360), and Tableau data visualization software experience a plus.

    + Excellent organization, communication, and supervisory skills.

    Manages curriculum development and operations of a College's specialized academic program under the direction of a senior administrator.

     

    - Implements and monitors a comprehensive academic program development plan; makes recommendations to improve department policies and procedures

     

    - Assists Director with outcome assessment and strategic planning to further develop program offerings

     

    - Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

     

    - Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures

     

    - May manage professional and/or clerical staff

     

    - May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    $86,741-$129,041; commensurate with education and experience.
