The Customer Master Data & Governance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and governance of customer data across enterprise systems. This role will collaborate closely with business, IT, and functional teams to define standards, manage data processes, and ensure data quality that supports operational efficiency, compliance, and business insights.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Master Data Maintenance
+ Create, validate, and maintain customer master records in ERP, CRM, and related systems, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
+ Manage customer hierarchies, account groupings, tax classifications, payment terms, and other key attributes.
+ Regularly monitor customer data for duplicates, outdated information, or inconsistencies, and take corrective action.
Data Quality & Governance
+ Define and enforce data quality rules, naming conventions, and standards across all business units.
+ Develop and maintain data governance policies for customer master data, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide governance models.
+ Implement workflows, approval processes, and controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Partner with internal audit and compliance teams to support SOX, GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable regulations.
Stakeholder Collaboration
+ Act as the primary point of contact for customer data-related issues, requests, and escalations.
+ Work closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to capture requirements and ensure master data supports business needs.
+ Liaise with IT and Data Management teams to support integrations, enhancements, and system upgrades impacting customer data.
Data Analysis & Reporting
+ Analyze customer data trends, identify root causes of recurring issues, and recommend corrective/preventive measures.
+ Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards to measure and monitor data quality performance.
+ Provide ad-hoc reporting and insights to business leaders for decision-making.
Projects & Process Improvement
+ Support data migration and cleansing efforts during system implementations, mergers, or acquisitions.
+ Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on streamlining customer data processes.
+ Participate in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for new functionalities, enhancements, and system integrations impacting customer data.
+ Document data management processes, procedures, and guidelines for end-user adoption.
Training & Change Enablement
+ Provide training and guidance to end users on proper procedures for creating and maintaining customer master data.
+ Promote awareness of data governance principles and the importance of accurate customer information.
+ Act as a champion for change, driving adoption of standardized processes across the organization.
CORE SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor's degree in computer/data science or similar field preferred.
+ 2-5 years' experience in similar role required.
+ Strong understanding of master data principles, including data lifecycle management, data ownership and stewardship.
+ Expertise in data governance frameworks, data quality rules and standards.
+ Ability to design, implement and maintain data validation, cleansing and enrichment processes.
+ Proficiency with ERP and CRM systems (SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics).
+ Hands-on experience with data management tools such as SAP MDG, Informatica MDM, Reltio, or equivalent.
+ Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of SQL or other query languages for data analysis and troubleshooting.
