General Summary:
The People Engagement Program Director is accountable for delivering end-to-end program planning and execution for P&C’s global key initiatives in support of Unum’s Employee Experience (EX) and Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) strategies.
Program planning will include strategies, roadmaps, implementation plans, change/adoption plans, success metrics, and communications plans. Responsible for the overall management of complex programs and virtual teams, practicing situational adaptability to meet the shifting demands of stakeholders and enterprise priorities.
You will ensure that connections and synergies across other bodies of work are recognized and leveraged, while building and managing trust-based relationships across People & Communications (P&C), Corporate, and Business leaders at all levels of the Enterprise.
Job Specifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
+ 7+ years of progressive project or program management experience (PMI or PMP certification preferred); HR program leadership experience a plus.
+ Experience with enterprise-wide cultural change, employee engagement programs, or organizational design is highly valued.
+ Demonstrated ability to get results through others by coaching and holding team members accountable.
+ Strong change enablement skills (ADKAR certification or practitioner preferred).
+ Excellent strategic thinking, influencing, and communication skills; able to operate effectively with VP and above.
+ Outstanding organizational, planning, and facilitation skills; comfortable working in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
+ Desire to experiment, continuously learn, and introduce innovative approaches to employee experience and engagement.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Deliver strategies, roadmaps, change/adoption management plans, success metrics, and implementation plans for multiple large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support cultural transformation.
+ Lead one or more virtual, multi-disciplinary teams, coaching and directing work while holding team members accountable for delivery.
+ Define and maintain governance processes to support achievement of short- and long-term plans, tracking spend aligned to operating budgets for key strategic efforts.
+ Partner closely with Total Wellbeing leadership and other EX stakeholders to deliver programs and ensure risk and capacity are managed effectively.
+ Drive large and complex process and operational improvements, introducing creative solutions to improve employee and manager experiences across P&C and the Enterprise.
+ Own and execute end-to-end change adoption plans for key initiatives, ensuring change readiness and adoption metrics are clearly defined and met.
+ Present program metrics, key performance indicators, recommendations, and trends to senior leadership to enable data-driven decision-making.
+ Design and drive SLT QBR meetings and the portfolio planning component of the annual SLT Strategy Meeting.
+ Build and sustain strong partnerships across P&C and the company to ensure consistency, operating effectiveness, and alignment with the broader Employee Experience Strategy.
+ Manage external supplier contracts and associated budgets for assigned initiatives.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,900.00-$169,900.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
