You will lead a diverse team that includes members with backgrounds in law enforcement, health physics, engineering, and scientific analysis, fostering an environment where varied perspectives contribute to innovative solutions.
Your work will focus on the three functions within the department:
+ Systems Analysis & Research: You will manage the systems analysis team within the department, conducting comprehensive analyses to support strategy and design decisions. This will include close collaboration with the second systems analysis team in the 6800 organization to ensure alignment and leverage complementary expertise. + Capacity Building: You will lead the capacity building team, which involves developing instructional programs and training initiatives designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of personnel involved in nuclear and radiological security. This team is critical for ensuring that stakeholders are well-prepared to respond effectively to incidents and challenges. You will work to identify gaps in training and knowledge, creating opportunities for growth and development within this area.
+ Response: You will oversee initiatives related to radiological and nuclear facility response force engagement. This includes developing training programs, conducting exercises, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the preparedness and effectiveness of response teams in addressing nuclear and radiological incidents. You will also prioritize identifying new areas for contribution within this team, ensuring that your group remains proactive in enhancing response capabilities.
Mentorship and professional development will also be a significant part of your responsibilities, as you provide support to team members, helping them grow and develop their skills. You will encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement, empowering your team to take on new challenges. Each day will present unique challenges that require innovative solutions, and you will leverage your expertise in systems analysis, response strategies, and capacity building to address complex issues related to nuclear and radiological security.
