Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sample Preparation Technician to join their team. The Sample Preparation Technician performs the physical drying, dividing, crushing, and mixing of gross samples of coal and coke to obtain a representative analysis sample for further laboratory testing. This is tough, sometimes dirty, rigorous work that always requires safe work habits and critical thinking. The technician is responsible for maintaining sample integrity throughout the preparation process.

**Job Title:** Sample Preparation Technician

**Location:** Hampton, VA

Pay Range: $18.00 per hour

**Shift:** Tuesday through Saturday, 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

Training schedule: Sunday 12:30pm to 8:30pm and Monday-Thursday 2:30pm to 11:00pm

What's the Job?

+ Receive, verify, and document the identity of incoming gross samples, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.

+ Divide large samples into smaller portions for drying, crushing, or testing, ensuring representative sampling.

+ Use laboratory moisture ovens to dry samples, following specific protocols.

+ Process dried samples through pulverization equipment to achieve proper particle sizes.

+ Mix, portion, and bottle samples accurately for laboratory submission, maintaining sample integrity.

What's Needed?

+ High school diploma or GED; relevant experience preferred.

+ Ability to learn quickly and follow detailed instructions meticulously.

+ Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

+ Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

+ Valid Virginia driver’s license and dependable transportation are mandatory.

+ Steel-Toe shoes are required
