    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network.     Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

     

    Kuiper is looking for an experienced Principal, Global Customs Compliance & Valuation to lead and develop valuation methodologies, and governance frameworks while ensuring adherence to international customs regulations and trade requirements to support of Kuiper's expanding global businesses. As a compliance leader in a fast-paced environment, you can expect to leverage your import/export and regulatory knowledge to translate complex issues into opportunities.

     

    Alongside our growing team, you will use a combination of subject matter expertise and business acumen to think outside the box and influence direction. You can expect to make an impact by executing core functions such as; working across subject matter experts to identify compliance requirements, recommending and implementing control mechanisms to mitigate risk, and diving deep into program specific requirements to define compliance solutions. You will successfully balance moving fast to unblock short-term issues with our long-term needs from a compliance, strategic and financial perspective. This role includes interacting with and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders including Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, Public Policy and other partners.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    -Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on customs valuation methodologies, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on complex customs matters

     

    -Design and implement global customs compliance frameworks and governance structures

     

    -Lead customs audits and develop response strategies for customs authority inquiries

     

    -Direct the development of customs valuation policies across multiple jurisdictions

     

    -Oversee risk assessment and mitigation strategies for customs-related activities

     

    -Build and maintain relationships with key customs authorities and regulatory bodies

     

    -Lead cross-functional initiatives to optimize customs processes and reduce duty exposure

     

    -Mentor and develop team members while fostering a culture of compliance excellence

    Basic Qualifications

    - Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, or related field

     

    - 10+ years of experience in global customs compliance and valuation

     

    - Expert knowledge of customs regulations and international trade requirements

     

    - Demonstrated experience developing and implementing customs valuation methodologies

     

    - Track record of managing customs audits and authority interactions

     

    - Experience working with cross-functional teams in a complex organization

     

    - Strong understanding of import/export regulations and compliance frameworks

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Master's degree in related field or relevant professional certifications (e.g., LCB, CCS)

     

    - 15+ years of experience in customs compliance with multinational organizations

     

    - Experience in technology or telecommunications industry

     

    - Advanced knowledge of global trade management systems and tools

     

    - Multi-lingual capabilities

     

    - Experience working with government agencies and regulatory bodies

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $273,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
