    General Description

SUNY Niagara is seeking an energetic and innovative Assistant Director of the NCCC Foundation to help advance the mission of the College and inspire philanthropy that transforms lives. This is a grant- funded position, reporting to the Director of Development of the NCCC Foundation, Inc.

     

    As the Assistant Director, you will play a vital role in supporting the Foundation’s fundraising and engagement efforts through program management, alumni relations, communications and event coordination. Working closely with the Director of Development, you’ll help design and execute campaigns, events and stewarship activities that strenghen donor relations, cultivate alumni pride, and elevate the College’s visibility in the community.

     

    To be successful in this role the candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills including demonstrated public speaking ability, and excellent organizational and time-management skills.     Typical Work Activities

    1. Coordinate alumni and donor engagement activities, including the annual campaign, Alumni Committee initiatives, and faculty/staff giving programs.

    2. Draft solicitation pieces, donor thank-you letters, and annual appeal communications to support fundraising efforts.

    3. Manage Foundation communications, including newsletters, solicitation materials, web content, social media, and assigned sections of the Annual Report.

    4. Plan and execute Foundation and alumni events, including signature fundraising events such as the Scholarship Soirée and annual Golf Scramble.

    5. Maintain and update the donor and alumni database (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge), ensuring accurate records and entries.

    6. Oversee scholarship committee processes, including Distinguished Student Scholarships, donor reports, and use of Blackbaud Award Management software.

    7. Conduct prospect research to identify potential corporate, foundation, and individual donors.

    8. Provide staff support for Foundation Board and Alumni Committee initiatives.

    9. Represent the Foundation on campus committees and in the community as assigned.

    10. Collaborate with the Director of Development and AVP of Institutional Advancement on campaign strategies and stewardship programs.

    11. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Foundation.

    Essential Functions

    Must be able to effectively present to groups and build relationships with a diverse range of senior college officials, alumni, community members, and corporate leaders. Strong skills in preparing and delivering presentations, as well as developing written, print, and digital communications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database management. Ability to travel locally and work evenings and weekends as required.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree;

    + Three years paid experience with a nonprofit organization,

    + Hands-on experience in fund raising with a proven track record of success,

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint),

    + Strong written and oral communications skills including demonstrated public speaking ability,

    + Excellent organizational and time management skills

    + Commitment to serving the college community.

    + Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s License

    Desirable Qualifications

    + Master’s Degree;

    + Experience working in higher education,

    + Proficiency with Blackbaud Raisers Edge,

    + Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups and build strong relationships across a wide range of internal and external constituencies,

    + Experience with fundraising and foundation/development.
