    Job Title: CNC Programmer

    Job Description

    The CNC Programmer is essential in supporting the machine shop by creating, maintaining, and revising machining programs to produce products that meet the specifications of both internal and external customers. This role involves designing fixtures, tooling, and programs while resolving any issues related to machining and customer requirements. The CNC Programmer will read client designs and program CNC machines to create products according to GD&T specifications, ensuring the use of appropriate tools and tool paths.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide detailed setup sheets to the machine shop, ensuring machinists understand the tools, tool paths, and programming methods needed for each program.

    + Maintain knowledge of downloading and retrieving processes for specific programs within machine tooling posts.

    + Offer technical support to the machine shop by answering questions and providing guidance on specific programs using simulation software.

    + Respond to on-call requests for products run during off shifts, as necessary.

    + Operate under the guidelines established by the Master Planner and Programming/Production Manager.

    + Deliver necessary instructions to the machine shop, including setting zero and reference points, tool offsets, tool compensation, and manufacturing sketches/drawings.

    + Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

    + Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.

    + Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting cycles and troubleshooting processes.

    + Ensure safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

    + Maintain continuity and consistency between programmers and work shifts by documenting and communicating actions.

    + Document actions by creating and updating setup sheets, quality logs, and change control systems.

    + Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

    + Accomplish organizational goals by exploring opportunities to add value, speed machining, improve quality, reduce tooling costs, and optimize material utilization.

    + Be receptive to constructive feedback from machinists, fellow programmers, management, and others.

    + Drive continuous improvement within the company.

    + Familiarity with graphite material is required as the company produces products made only of graphite.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum five years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.

    + At least three years’ experience with Mastercam or equivalent software.

    + Degree in machining technology or equivalent machining/programming experience.

    + Proficiency in 3-D programming techniques is preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in CNC mill and lathe programming.

    + Understanding of GD&T and drafting standards.

    + Knowledge of machining processes and SolidWorks.

    + Relevant programming coursework is preferred.

    + Previous voluntary participation in leadership or communications coursework is preferred.

    This is a Contract position based out of Troutdale, Oregon.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr.
