Position Summary

Investigates and resolves freight exceptions, including overages, shortages, damaged, refused, and unmarked freight, to minimize claims. Locates and documents missing or damaged freight, determines proper disposition, and communicates with customers and terminals.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

+ Supports bay operations by handling overages, shortages, and damaged freight.

+ Investigates freight discrepancies by reviewing strip manifests, checking emails, and working inventory to resolve issues.

+ Communicates shipment status with customers, partner carriers, and end-of-line receivers regarding overages, shortages, damages, and refusals.

+ Performs dock checks to locate and clear missing, bayed, damaged, or misdirected freight, including relabeling when necessary.

+ Assists with operational issues, including driver needs, collect-on-delivery payments, mis-deliveries, and immediate delivery requests.

+ Processes salvage and claims requests by coordinating with customers, shippers, and consignees while following company guidelines.

+ Coordinates with outside vendors for hazardous material spill cleanup and removal.

+ Uses checklists and cameras for overage, shortage, damaged, and missing freight investigations to support timely resolution.

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Transportation or related experience.

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation application systems.

+ Basic computer and customer service skills.

Pay Rate: $22.15 - $27.30 per hour, based on experience
