Instrumentation and Electrical Technician
Job Description
The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the plant by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and electrical equipment. This role is vital for minimizing downtime and optimizing production and requires a thorough understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
+ Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, VFDs, control panels, and power distribution.
+ Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and perform control loop checks.
+ Assist in the installation of new electrical equipment and systems.
+ Perform electrical installations per NEC and site safety standards.
+ Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in all facility-related activities.
+ Troubleshoot electrical failures and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
+ Maintain and update maintenance logs and records for electrical systems.
+ Follow electrical safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
+ Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
+ Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
+ Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
+ Participate in safety training and drills.
+ Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
+ Report any unsafe conditions or practices to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
+ Work closely with other maintenance team members, production staff, and management to coordinate maintenance activities.
+ Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption to production.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency with 480V systems, PLCs, VFDs, and control wiring.
+ Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform hands-on mechanical repairs.
+ Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
+ Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
+ Familiarity with chemical manufacturing processes and equipment.
+ Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
+ Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Basic computer skills, including familiarity with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in industrial electrical maintenance preferred.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial electrical experience, preferably in a chemical or process plant or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
+ Must pass drug screening as required.

Work Environment
The job requires working in a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve exposure to chemicals, fumes, excessive heat, and loud noises. The role demands physical endurance to lift and carry heavy objects, such as equipment components and chemical containers, weighing up to 100 pounds or more. Agility and flexibility are required to move around the plant, including climbing stairs, ladders, and platforms. The job may involve working in confined spaces and awkward positions. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are essential for operating machinery and handling small tools and equipment. Adequate vision and hearing are necessary to detect equipment malfunctions and communicate effectively. All safety protocols and procedures must be followed, including the use of personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richburg, South Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
