Job Title: Automotive Mechanic
Job Description
As an Automotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing automobiles, trucks, buses, and other vehicles. You will conduct test drives and utilize diagnostic equipment to check vehicle components.
Responsibilities
+ Inspect, maintain, modify, and repair all types of gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment, including autos, light trucks, and forklifts.
+ Determine the general condition of vehicles or equipment, identify malfunctions, and assess the extent of needed repairs using equipment such as aligning machines, test equipment, gauges, and more.
+ Check and replace all fluids, coolants, and lubricants as needed.
+ Repair vehicles by removing, disassembling, repairing, and replacing parts, and cleaning, reassembling, and replacing assemblies.
+ Utilize hoists, hand tools, power tools, and power equipment such as valve re-facing machines and brake drum lathes.
+ Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
+ Perform general preventive maintenance as assigned.
+ Ensure the work area is clean and orderly.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Four years' experience as an automotive mechanic in commercial or governmental repair work.
+ Full knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair both gasoline and light-duty diesel powered internal combustion engines, associated power trains, brake systems, and vehicular component parts.
+ Possession and maintenance of hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classification.
+ Required to obtain and maintain explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.
+ Valid Washington State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
+ Ability to meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification and clearance eligibility when required.
+ Capability to lift 50lbs.

Work Environment
The position is based at a Naval Base, requiring you to work with various tools and equipment in a structured setting. You will be expected to adhere to safety and security protocols while ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
