**Job Title:** Molecular Biology Team Lead
Pay: 27-40/hr depending on qualifications
Summary:
Adecco Healthcare and Lifesciences is seeking a motivated **Molecular Biologist (Team Lead)** to join a notable client in Irving Tx. The Molecular Team Lead is a key leader in the diagnostic laboratory, combining deep technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills. This role is responsible for mentoring and training junior team members, ensuring the highest standards in molecular PCR testing, resolving complex technical issues, overseeing laboratory operations, and driving efficient, high-quality testing processes. The Team Lead works closely with Supervisors, Managers, and Medical teams to align laboratory operations with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate has a comprehensive understanding of all Molecular processes, including safety practices, quality control, and testing procedures from setup to reporting through the Laboratory Information System (LIS). The Team Lead is responsible for guiding the molecular team through daily workflows, delegating tasks, and addressing complex problem-solving scenarios, including sample triage and advanced quality control activities. This role also includes participation in the validation of new multiplex PCR assays in collaboration with the Medical team, including primer/probe construction and limit of detection analysis, as well as monitoring trends in current diagnostic assays.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the Molecular team in strict adherence to all laboratory and safety protocols.
+ Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, and workflow organization.
+ Ensure compliance with all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) protocols.
+ Maintain rigorous QC standards, charting control results daily, weekly, and monthly to identify deviations in assay performance.
+ Train and mentor colleagues on Molecular Diagnostics SOPs and reporting procedures.
+ Interpret PCR guidelines and assist team members with challenging cases.
+ Utilize the LIS for accessioning, test ordering, batch reporting, and manager review.
+ Collaborate with Medical colleagues to resolve customer service issues, including using Salesforce.
+ Ensure proper operation and maintenance of molecular instruments and equipment.
+ Delegate tasks effectively to maintain smooth workflow in a high-volume environment.
+ Partner with Medical Leadership to enhance molecular processes, reduce waste, and maintain quality.
+ Conduct literature reviews and ongoing training to stay current on molecular assay development, emerging infectious diseases, and new molecular techniques.
+ Ensure team compliance with all EH&S biosafety requirements.
+ Address complex issues related to samples, instruments, and customer complaints, initiating Corrective Actions as needed.
Education and Experience:
+ BA/BS in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Molecular-Specific Requirements:
+ 3–5 years of PCR testing experience in a high-volume, high-throughput laboratory.
+ Molecular diagnostics experience required.
+ Experience working in a BioSafety Level 2 laboratory.
+ DNA extraction experience, including use of Kingfisher magnetic particle separator.
+ Real-time PCR experience, including Quant Studio PCR platform.
+ Experience validating PCR assays.
Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, etc.)
+ Advanced molecular and microbiology techniques, including staining, biochemical testing, media preparation, and SOP adherence
+ Interpretation of culture/PCR assay results and reportable organism guidelines
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
+ Leadership and mentorship abilities, including indirect influence
+ Problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, and innovation
+ Operational management and quality control planning
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

**Pay Details:** $27.00 to $40.00 per hour
