Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Job Description
The Quality Control (QC) Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Laboratory at a beverage manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods are tested and meet internal specifications and regulatory requirements. The QC Manager supervises a team of QC Lab Technicians, ensures compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and supports continuous improvement and troubleshooting initiatives in production.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee all laboratory testing procedures including pH, Brix, microbiological sampling, sensory evaluation, and analytical testing.
+ Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs), batch records, and test data for product release.
+ Ensure timely and accurate testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished goods to support production schedules.
+ Maintain and calibrate lab equipment according to manufacturer and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Supervise, schedule, and train QC Lab Technicians.
+ Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
+ Foster a culture of safety, accuracy, and accountability within the lab team.
+ Ensure all testing protocols comply with SQF, HACCP, GMP, and internal quality standards.
+ Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
+ Participate in internal and external audits and respond to non-conformances with corrective actions.
+ Work closely with Production, Sanitation, and Quality teams to resolve product quality issues.
+ Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
+ Support new product launches with testing protocols and specification validation.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of beverage product testing methods and GMP/GLP standards.
+ Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office.
+ Effective leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse technical team.
+ At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
+ Minimum of 3 years of quality control experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
+ Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
+ Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Work Environment
The position is based in a laboratory within the Food and Beverage sector, primarily producing syrups, grenadines, and similar products for cruise lines. The company is family-owned, offering long-term growth opportunities and the chance to develop close relationships with the owners. You will lead a team of four lab technicians.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/hr.
