Job Title: Automation EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in programming and debugging PLCs for warehouse automation systems. This role involves integrating and optimizing warehouse control systems (WCS) and ensuring seamless communication between warehouse management systems (WMS) and physical automation equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Program and debug PLCs, preferably Siemens S7-1500, used in warehouse automation systems.

+ Utilize working knowledge of commercial or custom WCS platforms, such as Dematic iQ, Honeywell Intelligrated Momentum, or Swisslog SynQ.

+ Analyze bottlenecks or inefficiencies in WCS systems, including delays in routing and misaligned processes between WCS and WMS/automation layers.

+ Debug task execution problems from EWM to WCS or automation systems to ensure proper routing of warehouse orders.

+ Test and commission Siemens PLC automation projects in a live warehouse environment tied to SAP EWM.

+ Integrate SAP EWM or another WMS with automated warehouse technologies, such as robotics, AS/RS systems, sorters, palletizers, and conveyor systems.

+ Ensure integration of automation systems with IT infrastructure, including Active Directory and cybersecurity best practices.

+ Integrate Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) into warehouse automation systems for real-time communication with WMS/WCS.

+ Understand and implement automation systems in regulated environments, ensuring GxP compliance, particularly Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP).

Essential Skills

+ 5-7 years of experience in automation, PLC programming, SCADA, and troubleshooting.

+ Expertise in Siemens PLCs and experience with GE Fix.

+ Experience with SAP EWM and troubleshooting.

+ Proficiency in programming and controls engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Korber WCS.

+ Familiarity with regulated environments and GxP compliance.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a construction environment supporting a greenfield expansion project. The land is currently in the grading phase, with trailers expected on site by the middle of next year. This effort supports the warehouse and intralogistics project track. The project is highly visible and publicized in North Carolina, providing experience that will be highly sought after in the Raleigh market for years to come.

This is a Contract position based out of Clayton, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $75.00/hr.
