    Job Title: Phlebotomist - Vancouver

    Job Description

    As a Phlebotomist, your primary responsibility is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. You will be collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring effective communication with patients and staff.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.

    + Decontaminate and update patient information.

    + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Understand and comply with all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.

    + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

    + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

    + Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Customer service experience in any setting.

    + Patient-first mindset.

    + Proven reliability and positive attendance.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Takes feedback well and has an eagerness to learn.

    + Personality fit is crucial - must be positive, hardworking, takes initiative, and works well with others.

    Work Environment

    The contract duration is initially 3 months, with potential extensions dependent on business needs and performance.     This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, Washington.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
