Job Title: Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)
Project: Dredging/Offshore, need Dredging experience
Job Description
The candidate will be responsible for the overall health and safety of employees on construction projects, specifically focusing on dredging projects. The SSHO will ensure that all work is performed to the standards regulated by the EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee workers on dredging projects.
+ Ensure compliance with current Army Corp (EM-385-1-1) and OSHA regulations.
+ Write safety reports.
+ Provide continuous safety oversight for 30 consecutive days during the demobilization phase of the mobile project.
+ Rotate to various project sites, including Louisiana and additional locations, as needed.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of Health & Safety Construction experience, preferably in dredging.
+ Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards and OSHA regulations.
+ OSHA 500, OSHA 501, or OSHA 30 certification.
+ Ability to write detailed safety reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with USACE projects.
+ 5 years of continued education, such as certificates from recent years.
+ 8-hour refresher training.
Work Environment
The role is mobile, requiring travel between project sites. A rental compact car will be provided for transportation. The SSHO must be willing to remain on their feet for extended periods and will work in a construction environment that necessitates wearing PPE, including a hard hat and safety glasses. The initial assignment involves 30 consecutive days on-site during the demobilization phase, with potential for contract extension up to one year as project demands dictate.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $45.00/hr.
