    Job Title: Field Engineer

    Job Description

    As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in the commissioning of building automation systems for new construction projects such as K-12 schools, clinics, data centers, and pharmaceutical/bioscience buildings. Your primary focus will be performing point-to-point checks on systems like chiller plant controls, HVAC, energy monitoring, and more, ensuring they are installed and functioning correctly.

    Responsibilities

    + Travel to various sites to perform system diagnostics and ensure proper functionality.

    + Use an iPad to run diagnostics and verify settings and controls.

    + Follow and update drawing packages as necessary.

    + Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control technology.

    + Serve as the local contact for technical issues and provide leadership in the field.

    + Offer solutions for complex system issues and ensure systems operate correctly.

    + Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.

    + Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.

    + Communicate and document project status and details for customers.

    + Provide site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.

    Essential Skills

    + 0+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or a technical field.

    + Capable of climbing ladders and using lift equipment over 8 feet and lifting up to 50 lbs.

    + Valid Driver’s License and insurable by the company’s insurance.

    + Experience with building automation software, such as WebCTRL.

    + Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks and wireless technology.

    + Proficient in using an electrical multi-meter.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + High School Diploma or GED required.

    + Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or Technical/Business School Certificate/Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or a related field preferred.

    + Experience with increasingly complex building automation controls.

    + Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints.

    + Understanding of common HVAC systems such as RTUs, air handlers, VAV boxes, Chillers, and Boilers.

    + Ability to check out and commission common HVAC controls devices such as sensors and valves.

    Work Environment

    You will primarily work on new construction sites, including schools, hospitals, data centers, and biopharmaceutical buildings. Collaboration with internal engineers, contractors, and client representatives is essential. The role involves 70% travel to job sites, with the remainder of the time spent working from the Madison office or from home. A company vehicle and equipment are provided. The position offers exposure to industry contractors and opportunities for networking.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, Wisconsin.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00/hr.
