The Laboratory Control Assistant supports the Lab Control Supervisor in the daily operations of the Laboratory Control department, which is responsible for the receipt, processing, and distribution of specimens for the Clinical Laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist with the coordination and execution of specimen handling, including receiving, sorting, delivering, and preparing samples for internal processing or external send-out.
+ Perform general support tasks such as answering phones, managing sample disposal, emptying biohazard waste, and unpacking and rotating inventory supplies.
+ Serve as a point of contact for a diverse range of personnel, including internal laboratory staff and healthcare providers both within and outside the organization.
+ Provide accurate information and respond to inquiries regarding test procedures, specimen requirements, and add-on test requests, in accordance with established protocols.
+ Direct more complex or laboratory-specific questions to the appropriate laboratory supervisor as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-High School Diploma required, degree in any aspect of scientific study preferred,
-Previous experience in industry or academics working within a laboratory environment.
- 6 months+ experience working in a laboratory at a hospital or diagnostic center highly desired but not required.
- Experience with SunQuest and/or Epic highly preferred but not required.
- Must be able to stand 80%+ of time
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
