    Job Title: Survey Technician Job Description

     

    Join our dynamic team as a Survey Technician, where you'll conduct daily site visits with the Crew Chief and engage in various types of land surveying, including plat of highway, ALTA, boundary, elevation, and topography. You'll also perform construction staking, attend office briefings to discuss site work, and download data for the engineering team.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct daily site visits with the Crew Chief.

    + Perform land surveying including plat of highway, ALTA, boundary, elevation, and topography surveys.

    + Carry out construction staking.

    + Attend office visits to debrief on site work and download data for the engineering team.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in topography, land surveying, and topographic surveys.

    + Experience with boundary survey software and ALTA surveys.

    + Familiarity with construction stakeout and construction surveys.

    + Knowledge of survey CAD, AutoCAD, total station, and GPS.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + An associate's degree is advantageous but not required.

    + Interest in pursuing a long-term career in land surveying.

    + SIT certification is a plus but not mandatory.

    + A high school diploma is the minimum requirement.

    + Ability to comprehend technical concepts and adapt to evolving technologies.

    + Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.

    + Preference for working outdoors and willingness to travel within the land surveyors' region.

    + Strong organizational and mathematical skills.

    + Possession of a current driver's license with a clean record.

    + Reliable personal vehicle.

    Work Environment

    This role is part of a busy land surveying team that values training and development. You will spend 90% of your time in the field on project sites. A company vehicle is provided for construction site visits, while personal vehicle usage is reimbursed for mileage. Opportunities for advancement include roles like Crew Chief and Project Manager, and there is a chance to learn CAD. The team consists of approximately 12 individuals, working on diverse projects such as mixed-use developments, data centers, and parking facilities. All projects are local, requiring no overnight travel.     This is a Contract position based out of Downers Grove, Illinois.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
