Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer will oversee multiple projects in the DMV area, requiring the ability to go onsite. This role involves managing various aspects of construction projects to ensure successful completion within deadlines and compliance with standards.
Responsibilities
+ Manage day-to-day field activities to meet project milestone dates and overall schedule completion.
+ Create short-interval look-ahead project schedules to track and proactively address upcoming events.
+ Foster a culture that values safety, health, and cleanliness.
+ Coordinate work to ensure it is constructed in an orderly manner consistent with contract documents and best-practice standards.
+ Establish and maintain dimensional controls for the project, involving third-party survey and layout personnel when appropriate.
+ Verify that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner (e.g., plumb, level, straight).
+ Proactively identify issues two weeks in advance to facilitate solutions.
+ Obtain all inspections and fully document the quality aspects of the physical work.
+ Ensure all project aspects comply with contract terms and legal requirements.
+ Administer client-specific programs such as CQC, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship.
+ Conduct and attend pre-construction, progress, and other project and staff meetings.
+ Meet regularly with client representatives to discuss project status, identify and resolve problems, and keep clients informed.
+ Manage self-performed activities within the established project budget.
+ Manage changes in project scope to prevent avoidable rework.
+ Assist with acquiring subcontractor proposals to ensure scope of work is met.
+ Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and agreements to meet scope, terms, and conditions.
+ Manage the punch list and project closeout process for timely completion.
+ Maintain daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence.
+ Provide timely interaction with supporting work groups like accounting, HR, and ICS.
+ Direct and manage workloads of supporting staff, including training, mentoring, and follow-up.
+ Participate in and encourage staff to seek life-long learning and professional development.
+ Report directly to the on-site Project Manager.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in construction and construction management.
+ Procore experience.
+ Ability to handle RFIs and Submittals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Federal experience preferred but not required.
+ Degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
+ Must be technology savvy.
Work Environment
Projects are located throughout the DMV area, including the Pentagon. The role involves overseeing multiple projects simultaneously. The first 3-6 months can be worked remotely until the new office opens, after which a hybrid work arrangement is available. The company is a small 8(a) firm affiliated with a large Alaskan Native corporation, and it is experiencing growth.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
