    Job Title: Quality Lab Technician

    Job Description

    As a Quality Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of grain processing in a GMP grade environment within a manufacturing setting. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare, process, and examine grain samples in the grading lab.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct quality checks in the grading lab by hand grading oat samples to determine rates of contamination and verify the quality of milled oats.

    + Clean and sanitize the lab and workspace to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

    + Support the flour lab by scanning dehulled beta glucan samples in the NIR and grinding portions into flour.

    + Flexibly support both labs/departments based on daily needs, as directed by the Senior Lab Technician.

    + Maintain and troubleshoot the oat grading sorting machine, ensuring its proper functioning.

    + Operate the dockage tester and dehull beta glucan samples.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in GMP, quality assurance, and quality control practices.

    + Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a laboratory setting.

    + Basic computer skills for tracking samples and testing results.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + 2-year or 4-year degree in sciences or a high school diploma with relevant experience.

    + Exposure to food testing, production, or scientific/laboratory coursework is a plus.

    + Experience in food quality or production is advantageous but not required.

    + Willingness to work in a lab with repetitive testing tasks.

    Work Environment

    The role is a production-oriented lab focused on manually grading oats for impurities and utilizing machines to automate processes. The position requires physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally is necessary. Adherence to safety standards and personal protective equipment is required, along with compliance with grooming requirements for a food manufacturing environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm, with potential changes in schedule and additional overtime depending on production needs.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
