    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (Texas City, TX)


    Description

    We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join our organization. The Controller will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, tax compliance, and the implementation of policies and procedures. This is a highly visible role that collaborates with senior leadership to support with business decisions and compliance.

     

    This position manages a team of three direct reports while also working closely with AP/AR staff through indirect reporting relationships.

     

    We are looking for an outgoing, forward-thinking leader who can not only drive accounting excellence but also champion process improvements that strengthen the organization overall.

    Controller Responsibilities

    + Lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with GASB and GAAP standards.

    + Oversee tax compliance, audits, and external reporting.

    + Implement, monitor, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

    + Partner with leadership on strategic planning and financial sustainability initiatives.

    + Manage, mentor, and develop a collaborative accounting team.

    + Drive process improvements across finance and organizational functions.

    + Represent the accounting department in board meetings and other leadership discussions.

    Requirements

    Controller Requirements:

    + 10+ years of progressive experience as a Controller or in an Accounting leadership role.

    + Industry experience in Higher Education, Non-Profit, Government, or Healthcare.

    + Strong knowledge of GASB and GAAP.

    + Demonstrated success in leadership, process improvement, and cross-department collaboration.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with ADP (recently implemented).

    + Familiarity with Colleague or Datatel software.

    + CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
