St. Johnsbury Pediatrics (SJP), a primary care practice of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH), is seeking an experienced Practice Operations Director to join our dedicated team. This leadership role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pediatric patient care while overseeing the successful operation of our NCQA-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home.
SJP provides a comprehensive range of pediatric services through our team of pediatricians, Nurse Practitioners, a Care Coordinator, a Behavioral Health Specialist, and Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Medical Office Secretaries. As part of the Vermont Child Health Improvement Program, NVRH is committed to advancing community health and wellness throughout the Northeast Kingdom.
What You'll Do
Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Practice Operations Director is responsible for the overall management and successful operation of St. Johnsbury Pediatrics. This leadership role provides strategic guidance to all providers and staff while ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction, safety, and quality through continuous improvement initiatives. The Director partners with the Medical Director, COO, Nursing Coordinator, Medical Secretary Coordinator, and various department supervisors to achieve the organization's values, mission, and vision.

NVRH is located in St. Johnsbury in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We are a community, not-for-profit, acute care, critical access hospital. NVRH is one of two Vermont hospitals designated as Baby-Friendly by the World Health Organization. The organization offers primary and preventive care, as well as surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour, physician-staffed emergency services. NVRH serves the health needs of over 33,000 people in Caledonia and southern Essex Counties in Vermont, employing more than 700 dedicated staff.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and develop healthcare teams through recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative culture while providing effective conflict resolution and decision-making leadership
+ Manage practice operations and patient flow by optimizing space utilization, coordinating provider schedules, monitoring patient access to care, and handling administrative transactions, including purchase orders and payments
+ Oversee financial performance and compliance by preparing and managing budgets, monitoring expenses and revenue variances, ensuring regulatory standards are met, and maintaining quality, safety, and confidentiality requirements
+ Drive patient satisfaction and stakeholder communication by resolving patient complaints, coordinating performance assessments with medical staff, maintaining adequate coverage, and building partnerships with internal teams and community stakeholders
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
+ Five years of management experience in a medical practice setting preferred
+ Experience with computerized office management systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
