Position Summary/Description:
The UNC HIV Cure Center seeks a Research Associate to lead and support high-impact research, clinical, and community engagement initiatives in collaboration with the CARE . This position plays a strategic role in shaping and executing the Center’s scientific agenda, managing complex NIH -funded projects, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across academic, clinical, and community partners. The incumbent will serve as a scientific and operational leader, contributing to UNC’s global prominence in HIV cure research.
The position will collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop and refine experimental protocols, ensuring scientific rigor and innovation. It will provide scientific and administrative oversight for CARE and other NIH -funded initiatives, ensuring alignment with sponsor expectations and institutional priorities and manage the full lifecycle of research contracts and proposals, including review, execution, and reporting. The position will also ensure adherence to all university, federal, and sponsor regulations governing human subjects research, data integrity, and laboratory safety.
Education and Experience:
+ Experience in HIV , infectious disease, or immunology research.
+ Experience in biomedical, clinical, or public health research.
+ Knowledge of clinical trial operations, IRB processes, and human subjects research protections.
+ Familiarity with community-based research and engagement practices.
+ Experience with grant writing, manuscript preparation, or scientific presentations.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
+ Master’s degree in Public Health, Biology, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or a related field.
+ Ability to work independently on multiple projects with a range of investigators and stakeholder collaborators across a variety of disciplines.
