    Position Summary/Description:

The Department of Art & Art History is recruiting for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Studio Art, with a specialization in Printmedia. We seek an artist with a robust and dynamic practice, supported by an active record of exhibitions and publication that reflects a broad understanding of contemporary printmedia and its related disciplines. Candidates should possess technical expertise across a wide range of printmaking processes and an understanding of the conceptual and material possibilities that define the expanded field of printmedia. In addition to teaching core printmedia courses, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new courses that draw on their creative practice and interdisciplinary interests. These may include, but are not limited to, socially engaged practices, book arts, painting, drawing, or performance. There are also opportunities to collaborate with faculty across campus to design interdisciplinary courses that extend the reach of printmedia into new contexts. The teaching load is two courses per semester, and all studio faculty serve on several MFA graduate committees per year. Studio faculty may also occasionally teach MFA seminars, First Year Seminars and special topics courses as part of this teaching load. In addition to teaching and creative research, all faculty contribute to the department’s shared responsibilities, including committee service, academic advising, and participation in departmental governance. Candidates should demonstrate a record of, or strong potential for, effective service and collective decision-making.
