About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of todays and tomorrow’s power grid!
We are looking for a Plant EH&S Manager. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
The Plant EH&S Manager will provide comprehensive EHS support for Siemens Industry, Inc. (SII) at our Wendell Factory. This role is on-site and pivotal to fostering a culture of safety and compliance within our organization. As the EHS support provider for our manufacturing location, you will oversee a diverse range of assembly lines including MV Switchgear, LV Motor Control Centers, LV Switchboards, and a retrofit line for breakers, with the addition of metal fabrication and copper bus fabrication.
You will make an impact by:
+ Advocate for a Zero Harm safety culture that protects the safety of Siemens’ employees, subcontractors, and customers.
+ Develop and lead the plant sustainment activities to reduce the plant’s carbon footprint.
+ Develop an EHS strategy for the factory to improve employee safety.
+ Maintain and enhance safe work standards and practices.
+ Analyze and maintain EHS data and prepare EHS regulatory compliance reporting, both internal and external.
+ Regularly conduct safety training for Siemens employees and maintain an employee safety training database.
+ Manage worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work program.
+ Lead and facilitate continuous improvement activities to address ergonomic concerns.
+ Contribute to internal and external EHS audits, in support of the accountable EHS Officer.
+ Provide technical guidance to employees regarding environmental, health and safety related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance.
+ Improve employee and management EHS awareness.
+ Participate in audit activities including identification of EHS issues and implementation of corrective actions.
+ Support EHS incident investigations, to include, tracking and record-keeping requirements.
+ Demonstrate operational knowledge of facilities, and a keen understanding of electro-mechanical assembly processes.
+ Collaborate with SI EA EHS Manager who will provide direct support.
+ Assist Regional/US EHS Specialists and Teams as required.
+ Maintain knowledge with all respective regulations and standards in regional or local law.
+ Recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.

Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree
+ 4+ years’ experience in a technical EHS role focusing on Safety and Environmental Compliance
+ 2+ years’ of prior EHS manager experience
+ 1+ years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
+ 1+ years’ experience working with EPA and OSHA regulations and industry EHS standards.
+ 1+ years’ experience working on cross-functional teams and leading EHS targets and objectives.
+ Strong writing capabilities, especially with writing clear, concise EHS procedures
+ Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks for different business units and work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Willingness and ability to travel to other plant sites and attend EHS conferences as required.
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Certified Safety Specialist (CSP) certification, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification
+ Experience working with ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO18001 and Management System Standards
