    Job Summary

    Paints University buildings, areas, equipment, and furniture with hand brushes, rollers, and sprayers to include mixing, blending, and matching of paints and stains.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Paints University buildings, areas, equipment, and furniture with hand brushes, rollers, and sprayers. Mixes, blends, and matches paint and stains to proper color and consistency.

    + Determines sequences of paint operations and methods utilized; provides advise for scaffolding, rigging, color blending, equipment recommendations, materials needed, and areas to be painted according to work orders.

    + Estimates time and cost for painting jobs.

    + Finishes sheetrock, plaster and lathe, walls and ceilings in preparation for painting.

    + Performs such typical operations as applying decorative and/or protective finish coats to mill-work.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED and one year related experience and/or training.  Valid driver’s License.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

     

    + Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.

    + Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

    + Skill in determining the kind and use of standard tools and equipment of the profession as well as the ability to maintain and care for hand and power tools.

    + Ability to perform maintenance, to follow instructions, and to interpret drawings and diagrams.

    + Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

    + Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.

    + Ability to obtain a driver’s license prior to employment.

    + Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

    + Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.

    + Ability to operate office machines, including calculator, and personal computer.
