    Hoselton Chevrolet is looking for aDetail / Doll-Up Technician to join our busy shop!

     

    Our Detail / Doll-Up technicians clean, refurbish, and recondition new and used automobiles for the lot, as well as customer deliveries, by washing, waxing, vacuuming, buffing, minor scratch removal, and performing challenging interior and exterior detailing.

     

    + **Experience in a high-volume shop is preferred, but will consider other relevant detailer experience.**

    + **Having a NYSI License would be a huge plus!**

    + **Must have or be willing to obtain the basic detailing tools necessary for the position such as:** **(Dual Action Buffer, Blow Gun, Brushes, and Drill)**

    **Schedule:** Full-Time, 9AM - 5PM Monday - Saturday with a day off during the week

    **Compensation:** $40,000 - $80,000 per year

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The primary objective of the Detailer is to clean, refurbish, and recondition new and used automobiles for the lot, as well as customer deliveries, by washing, waxing, vacuuming, buffing, minor scratch removal, and performing challenging interior and exterior detailing.

    DUTIES** **AND** **RESPONSIBILITIES

    Exterior Detailing:

    + Clean engine bay including de-greasing and blow-drying.

    + De-grease door jams by scrubbing with wash mitt and rinsing when clean.

    + Use wheel acid on wheels to remove all dust/dirt.

    + Soak entire vehicle with pre-wash.

    + Wash vehicle exterior, using cleaning solution, water, cloths, and brushes.

    + Rinse and dry thoroughly inspecting as you dry for areas that need special attention.

    + Buff/Polish/Wax as follows:

    + Tape off any areas you don’t want to wax (i.e. moldings, wipers, any plastic panels)

    + Start buffing with white wool cutting pad and appropriate compound, focus on scratches & imperfections.

    + Perform second buffing using yellow wool pad and appropriate compound to remove swirl marks left from white pad.

    + Polish using blue waffle pad and appropriate compound to achieve a swirl free glass-like shine.

    + Remove tape and wash vehicle of any residual compound giving special attention to all door and panel gaps to ensure there is no remaining compound.

    + Use compressed air to completely remove remaining water from all areas where water can be trapped.

    + Apply exact match touch up paint-based color coder where appropriate.

    + Apply wax to auto body, and wipe or buff surface to protect surface and preserve shine, using cloth or buffing machine.

    + Dress tires.

    Interior Detailing:

    + Start at the top of the inside of the vehicle and end at the bottom.

    + Begin with headliner, visors, and dome lights.

    + Clean all windows inside and out making sure all stickers, decals, old registrations are removed.

    + Clean dashboard using micro-fiber towel and detail brush with appropriate chemicals.

    + Clean door panels in accordance with dash cleaning standards.

    + Clean engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents to remove grease and grime.

    + Paint engine components and related parts, using spray gun or aerosol can and masking materials.

    + Apply paint to chipped body surfaces of vehicles, using touch-up paint.

    + Carpets/Seats/Trunk detailing as follows:

    + Vacuum interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris, using vacuum cleaner.

    + Clean upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.

    + Apply revitalizers and preservation agents to vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot – and stain-resistant chemicals to preserve and protect interior components.

    + Extraction process to include front seats (cloth), front carpet, and repeat in rear of vehicle.

    + Vacuum trunk, spare tire compartment, and other compartments.

    + Apply special purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following recommendations of the product’s manufacturer.

    + Apply dyes and reconditioning chemicals to vinyl tops of vehicles to restore color and condition.

    Miscellaneous:

    + Keeping shop area neat and clean and always be able to account for all dealership-owned tools.

    + Understanding and following federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

    + Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    + Professional detail experience preferred

    + Minimum 1-2 years’ experience using a buffer

    + High attention to detail

    + High motivation, work ethic, and enthusiasm

    + Professional appearance and positive attitude

    + Ability to communicate clearly and professionally

    + Some computer knowledge and/or experience

    + High School diploma required
