A Brief Overview

The Insurance Underwriter oversees the institutional program insurance applications, assess the risk, classify it and set the appropriate premium for commercial lines policies.

What you’ll do

+ F ollows general rules for insurance and companies’ guidelines to perform underwriting duties.

+ Analyses the insurance’s application and requests enough information for a proper assessment of commercial lines risk.

+ Sets the appropriate premium rate that should be charged for a commercial line policy.

+ Prepares or requests to the Insurance Companies the renewals of commercial lines policies.

+ Analyses and prepares the endorsements of commercial lines policies that involve additional premium or credit premium.

+ Analyses and prepares the cancellations of commercial lines policies

+ Analyses and prepares the reinstatements of commercial lines policies.

+ Attach images and assign tasks using Image Right System.

+ Provides information and brings support to sales personnel to help them in selecting risks and submitting underwriting information.

+ Review of claims history to identify areas of exposures and report to the Institutional Account stakeholders

+ Provide support in the identification of exposures and reporting to the Institutional account Stakeholders after a loss control inspection is performed by the unit manager in FirstBank and MOEX locations

+ Review third party claims and report to the Carrier on time

+ Issue certificate of insurance and deliver it to stakeholders

+ Assist FirstBank Corp reviewing vendors agreements to identify exposures and insurance clause language

+ Any other activity assigned related to the position executed.

+ Assists management in general duties as requested.

• Develops and runs special projects requested by unit manager.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Formal Education

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and/or studies in a law school related to property inscription is required for this position.

Knowledge and Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in Underwriting or in a similar position.

• Customer service: Responds promptly to customer needs and solicits customer feedback to improve service.

• Teamwork: Contributes to building a positive team spirit.

• Ethics: Works with integrity and ethically.

• Quality: Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.

• Computer literate: Knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.

• Communication: Good verbal and written communication in both English and Spanish.
