Staff Software Engineer, Workspace, Developer Productivity and Infrastructure

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on infrastructure, developer tools, or platform engineering.

+ 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

+ Experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms.

+ Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python, Go).

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

+ 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.

+ 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

+ Understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application in optimizing software development workflows.

+ Understanding of Google Workspace products or similar collaboration platforms.

+ Knowledge of web and mobile applications, preferably Android.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

+ Provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers, foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

+ Define and execute the technical strategy for leveraging AI to enhance developer productivity and feature velocity across Workspace infrastructure.

+ Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure that incorporates AI/ML solutions to automate and optimize development workflows, testing, deployment, and operational tasks.

+ Analyze existing development processes and infrastructure to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.

+ Collaborate with product managers, other engineering teams, and research teams to understand their needs, gather requirements, and integrate AI solutions effectively into the Workspace ecosystem.
