    + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

    + 7 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

    + 7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: drafting or enforcing online platform policy, engaging with online public policy issues, or product management focused on product and user safety.

    + 2 years of experience in people management, leading a team.

    Preferred qualifications:

    + JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.

    + Experience managing programs that span organizations and have a direct business impact.

    + Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.

    + Experience engaging in and discussing sensitive or controversial policy/content areas.

    + Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and executive leadership.

    + Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a fluid environment.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

     

    As a Policy Development Manager, you will manage a team of Policy Development Leads to develop global policies and product solutions for YouTube content and drive cross-functional projects impacting the global ecosystem. You will bring order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems. The Policy team covers a wide variety of topics, and you will contribute across multiple areas. This role involves reviewing graphic, controversial, or offensive content in line with YouTube’sCommunity Guidelines (https://www.youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/policies/community-guidelines/) .

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000-$236,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    + Lead, mentor, and develop a team of full-time Policy Leads, ensuring top-tier performance and alignment with the goals.

    + Serve as central point-of-contact for the Cross Product Solutions team, building collaborative relationships with stakeholders across Product and Feature Teams, Enforcement and Operations, GTM, to ensure clarity, accountability, and transitions across teams.

    + Present policy proposals, product solutions, risk assessments, to the leadership and influence stakeholders and company executives regarding proposed policy efforts.

    + Negotiate and find policy solutions balancing safety and product reach and growth objectives, including developing or updating global policies focused on policy requirements for new features and lead execution all the way to launches.

    + Understand and communicate the policy challenges and needs presented by new features and emerging global online content risks.
