    Job Description

    Fulcrum Consulting, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with our client in Minneapolis, MN or Boston, MA.

     

    Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our Asset Management Technology team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology, innovation, and solving complex business problems in the financial services industry. You will work hands-on throughout the development lifecycle to build next-generation, cloud-native applications and analytics tools that empower our front-office investment professionals. You’ll collaborate closely with traders, portfolio managers, and analysts to deliver impactful solutions and contribute to the transformation of our front-office technology landscape.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, develop, and implement scalable, cloud-based software solutions using Java, Python, or .NET.

    + Collaborate with investment professionals to identify technical solutions for complex financial workflows and data challenges.

    + Leverage AWS services and modern cloud architecture practices to build robust and secure applications.

    + Champion modern engineering practices such as agile development, continuous integration, unit testing, and code reviews.

    + Apply a value-driven, engineering-first mindset to solving business problems with innovation and speed.

    + Stay current with emerging technologies (including AI/ML and GenAI) and apply them to automate or enhance investment processes.

    + Participate in discovery and planning sessions to translate business needs into technical solutions.

    + Demonstrate a proactive, ownership-driven approach across the full software development lifecycle—from concept to deployment and support.

    + Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment, emphasizing humility, accountability, and continuous learning.

    + Act as a subject matter expert in technical discussions and mentor junior team members when needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + 5–6 years of hands-on experience in software development.

    + Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or .NET.

    + Proven experience working in the financial services or asset management industry.

    + Familiarity with the AWS stack and cloud-native application development.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to thrive in a collaborative team setting.

    + Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business requirements.

     

    The base hourly range for this contract position is $60-$90 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
