Job Description
**Staff/Registered Nurse** , University Health Services, Student Affairs (Full-time evening / 39 weeks)
The **registered nurse** working for University Health Services provides physical, psychological, and emotional care on a 10-bed inpatient unit as well as assessing/treating walk-in patients in an emergent/urgent care setting. The nurse will be responsible for:
+ identifying patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons to understand patient needs;
+ following the nursing process;
+ evaluating patients seeking medical or emergency treatment/advice by performing a thorough nursing assessment, providing first-aid treatment and communicating findings to treating practitioners; and
+ communicating test/lab findings to treating practitioners.
The nurse will also be responsible for coordinating treatment by communicating with the multidisciplinary team, which includes but is not limited to, physicians, nurses, administration, counseling, BC Police Department, and emergency rooms; arranging for referrals, tests, transportation, and admissions. The nurse will resolve patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies; providing counseling regarding health care practices and prescribed medical treatment.
Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
This is a 35 hour per week/benefit eligible position. This position will require 8, 11 & 12 hrs. shifts involving days/evenings and every other weekend. See chart of first two weeks then repeat. Two nurses hold this position and alternate accordingly:
Week 1:
Sunday - off
Monday - 1pm - 9pm (8 hours)
Tuesday - 1pm - 9pm (8 hours)
Wednesday - 1pm - 9pm (8 hours)
Thursday - off
Friday - off
Saturday 10am - 9pm (11 hours)
Week 2:
Sunday - 10am - 9pm (11 hours)
Monday - off
Tuesday - off
Wednesday - off
Thursday - 9am - 9pm (12 hours)
Friday - 9am - 9pm (12 hours)
Saturday - off
Repeat
Hiring Range: $41.79/hour to $52.23/hour. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
+ Registered Nurse with MA license.
+ At least three years of experience in an ambulatory, emergency or college health setting.
+ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required.
+ Electronic medical records experience is required.
+ Must be flexible and able to function in a busy environment.
+ Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations and creating inclusive and belonging environments.
