Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Mission Assurance Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be onsite in Melbourne, FL. You will directly support the Mission Assurance Program Manager (MAPM) by executing and overseeing quality first technical support, independent of Engineering, through early intervention. Support a program and mission assurance team during the Engineering Manufacture and Development (EMD) phase. This role will be operationally focused and drive collaborative efforts across various Integrated Product Teams (IPT), to include System Test, through team integration and involvement at the lowest to highest levels. Validate program objectives are being met through participation and oversight of task performance, historical data reviews, process reviews, inspection, auditing, testing and product evaluation. Deliver focused efforts in design review, nonconforming material processing, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, manufacturing, flight operations, research and development as they apply to the mission assurance statement of work. Evaluate and support corrective measures to ensure process revision meets acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with program requirements.
Oversee and prepare malfunction and corrective action reports while holding manufacturing accountable for root cause and corrective action deliverables. Review all necessary product and system documentation to ensure process compliance and requirement needs are met. Work closely with program partners to validate requirements. Oversee and execute process development to identify potential product performance impacts as early as possible. Guide product development engagement through oversight of processes, procedures and standard adherence to ensure product design meets customer requirements. Plan, schedule and oversee qualification testing and provide guidance when needed. Ensure integration testing oversight via test procedure review, test witnessing, troubleshooting and buy off.
Confirm Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRL), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Qualification Test Procedures (QTP), Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW), Program Specifications (PSPEC), etc. are compliant to requirements. When necessary, attend gateway events such as Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM), Integrated Review Board (IRB), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Critical Design Review (CDR), etc. Drive program audits to identify quality related deficiencies, evaluate non-conformances, and negative performance trends and failures; assist in root cause and corrective actions necessary to prevent a future reoccurrence. This position will require high level organizational skills to support concurrent taskings along with strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Atlassian Tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities:
+ Engage inspection, software and supplier quality teams to drive quality into the design to ensure robust verification and validation processes.
+ Facilitate root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations to address non-conformances, ensuring effective resolution and continuous improvement.
+ Track, oversee and process non-conformances from initiation through disposition, via collaboration with internal and external customers.
+ Deliver fact based decision points to leadership through daily/weekly metrics and reviews.
+ Oversee product qualification and provide guidance through AS9100 FAI process.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing operations to ensure quality standards are in place.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s with 8 years of relevant experience or master’s with 6 years of relevant experience Education emphasis in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
+ Experience with or in Design Engineering and Manufacturing
+ Extensive knowledge using design and modeling tools
+ Quality Assurance oversight experience with enforcement of AS9100 standards.
+ Extensive knowledge in Agile, Lean Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis
+ Experience with Material Review Board (MRB)
+ As a condition of employment, the candidate must have an active Secret or inactive Secret clearance with an investigation within the last 10 years, and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Top-Secret clearance per business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering studies
+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance
+ Experience engaging with manufacturing on the shop floor to provide solutions
+ Experience in Earned Value Management.
Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
