Position: Physical Therapist Assistant
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:30 PM
Are you passionate about helping others regain strength, mobility, and independence? UPMC is looking for a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our compassionate care team. In this role, you'll work closely with licensed physical therapists to deliver high-quality, personalized treatment that helps patients of all ages thrive.
What You'll Do:
+ Provide hands-on physical therapy treatments based on plans developed by licensed physical therapists.
+ Monitor patient progress and recommend adjustments to treatment plans.
+ Maintain a clean, organized work environment and assist with clerical tasks.
+ Safely transport patients and ensure a comfortable experience.
+ Supervise therapy volunteers and support staff as needed.
+ Rotate through different treatment areas to support team needs.
Who You'll Work With:
+ Pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
+ A collaborative team of therapists and healthcare professionals.
+ School and community partners to support patient care and education.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Delivering effective, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
+ Documenting treatments and patient progress accurately and thoroughly.
+ Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and departmental initiatives.
+ Maintaining productivity standards and contributing to a positive team culture.
+ Communicating clearly with supervisors and team members to ensure safe, high-quality care.

• Qualifications - Physical Therapist Assistant
+ Education: Associate's degree from an APTA-accredited PTA program.
+ Certification: CPR (AHA-compliant) within 30 days of hire.
+ Skills:
+ Strong communication and organizational abilities
+ Knowledge of human development across the lifespan
+ Ability to interpret medical records and apply clinical reasoning
+ Problem-solving and strategic thinking
+ Comfortable working with diverse patient populations
+ Professionalism:
+ Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
+ Able to identify growth opportunities and contribute to department goals
+ Participation in professional organizations preferred
+ Must complete all required orientations and competencies
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Physical Therapist Assistant OR Physical Therapist Assistant Indirect Supervision
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
