Join Our Team at UPMC Shadyside ASC - Full-Time Clinician Opportunity
Are you ready to take the next step in your nursing career? UPMC Shadyside Ambulatory Surgery Center is hiring a full-time Clinician to provide day-to-day leadership and direct patient care across our OR and pre/post-operative areas. This Monday-Friday daylight position offers a consistent schedule with no weekends, holidays, nights, or on-call requirements-a rare find in clinical leadership!
As a Clinician, you'll work closely with the Unit Director to coordinate staffing, support team development, and ensure high-quality patient care. We offer a robust career ladder to help you grow professionally within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Must-haves:
+ Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
+ BS/BSN required (If BS is not in nursing, a Master's or higher in Nursing is required)
+ Experience in either OR or Pre/Post Op
+ Strong mobility, manual dexterity, and physical stamina
Nice-to-haves:
+ OR circulator/scrub experience
+ MSN preferred
+ 5+ years of nursing experienceResponsibilities:

+ Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction of the patient experience in daily work. Disseminates new knowledge and innovations through presentations, posters, and publications.
+ Applies nursing knowledge and skills within the framework of Relationship Based Care, using the nursing process to meet the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Demonstrates critical thinking in the analysis of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for the patient care within an episode of care. Practices solid verbal and written communication skills and can articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Ensures patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
+ Serves as a leader in clinical nursing practice, identifying patient and staff focused opportunities for improvement and leading the change process. Identifies, educates, and supports the psychological and learning needs of staff during change and transition. Practices participatory leadership and is an active member of shared leadership at the unit, facility, or system level. Assumes formal leadership responsibilities for one or more of the following: quality improvement, evidence-based practice, GN or new hire on-boarding. Completes and/or assists with staff performance evaluations for direct reports as applicable.
Education & Experience
+ Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
+ BS/BSN required; if BS is not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required
+ Master's degree preferred
+ Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse

+ Ability to provide age-appropriate care based on unit-specific needs
+ Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan
+ Skilled in assessing patient data and interpreting age-specific care requirements
+ Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities

Licensure & Certifications
+ Current RN license in practicing state or multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC)
+ If relocating to the facility's state, must obtain local licensure within 60 days
+ National Certification preferred
+ CPR certification (AHA standards with didactic and skills demo) required within 30 days of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Act 34 clearance required
