    UPMC Western Psychiatric is looking for a full-time Professional Staff Nurse (RN), Outpatient to join their Narcoti Addition Treatment Program team ( _225 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15221_ ). They are an outpatient clinic serving patients with Opioid Use Disorder. This role will provide you a chance to impact a patient's life in a positive way every day!

     

    Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday from 5:30am - 1:30pm. _*Hours/Days may be subject to change based on business needs_

    Purpose:

    The Professional Staff Nurse, a licensed Registered Nurse, plays a vital role within the interdisciplinary care delivery team. This position sets the benchmark for excellence in patient care, holding full responsibility, authority, and accountability for the delivery of high-quality nursing services.

     

    The nurse provides direct care to a designated group of patients and their families, exercising independent clinical judgement and fostering effective communication and collaboration across all team members. Through strong partnerships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families, the nurse supports optimal outcomes across the continuum of care.

     

    This role reflects a deep commitment to both the nursing profession and the broader community, prompting compassionate, evidence-based care and continuous improvement in clinical practice.

    Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

    + Quality Improvement & Evidence-Based Practice

    + Actively engages in department- or practice-specific quality improvement initiatives

    + Leads others in applying the nursing process with clarity and precision.

    + Maintains physical stamina and dexterity to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.

    + Patient & Staff Education

    + Applies adult learning principles (and pediatric teaching strategies when applicable) to educate patients, families, students, and new staff.

    + Provides clear, comprehensive guidance throughout the care journey, both in-person and through remote communication.

    + Fosters a culture of continuous learning by mentoring new team members and encouraging open dialogue and feedback.

    + Care Planning & Communication

    + Develops individualized care plans in partnership with patients, considering their holistic needs.

    + Triages patient concerns and coordinates care with physicians.

    + Assists physicians with assessments, evaluations, and patient education.

    + Identifies and addresses clinical, social, psychological, safety, and spiritual needs within each episode of care.

    + Communicates effectively with the care team, translating patient conditions and advocating for necessary changes in care or practice.

    + Maintains thorough documentation to support seamless communication and continuity of care.

    + Aligns care practices with national standards and organizational goals to enhance safety, quality, and satisfaction.

    + Professional Development & Team Engagement

    + Demonstrates accountability for ongoing professional growth and its impact on patient care.

    + Participates in shared governance, goal setting, and change initiatives to improve the practice environment.

    + Acts as a fully engaged team member, offering support and collaboration to colleagues.

    + Minimum six months experience preferred.

    + BSN preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + UPMC approved national certification preferred.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

    + Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
