Are you a dedicated pharmacy technician looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment? We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and distribution of medications. Shifts will primarily be during daylight/evening hours with occasional night shift coverage. This position will also have weekend and holiday responsibilities. Pharmacy Technician Associate
Filling
+ Prepare cytotoxic and hazardous drugs (e.g., chemotherapy) using aseptic technique.
+ Prepare oral and injectable medications, including IV admixtures and TPN, for correct patients.
+ Fill medication orders with proper labeling, counting, and stocking.
General
+ Maintain inventory levels in pharmacy stock rooms, medication carousels, and dispensing machines.
+ Ensure proper hand hygiene in pharmacy and units.
+ Finalize sales and follow cash handling procedures.
+ Store medications securely per regulations.
+ Train pharmacy personnel and students.
+ Comply with Federal and State laws (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
+ Participate in quality improvement activities.
+ Provide and receive information to/from hospital personnel, patients, and visitors.
+ Maintain patient information, records, and pharmacy computer systems.
+ Keep documentation (eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, etc.).
+ Audit and maintain controlled substance records.
Distribution
+ Retrieve and return discontinued medications.
+ Distribute medications, including cassettes, emergency carts, and controlled substances.
+ Develop positive service relationships during medication distribution.
Investigational
+ Assist with investigational and study drugs' procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution.
Pharmacy Technician IntermediateGeneral
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
+ Maintain all required documentation (e.g., eye wash logs, refrigerator logs, inventory logs).
+ Ensure safe and secure medication storage per regulatory standards.
+ Comply with Federal and State laws (HIPAA, OSHA, FWA, CMS).
+ Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
+ Use computer systems to manage patient records and pharmacy operations.
+ Finalize sales using cash register and follow proper cash handling procedures.
+ Audit and maintain accurate records for controlled substances.
+ Procure and maintain inventory levels in stock rooms, carousels, and dispensing machines.
+ Communicate with hospital personnel, patients, and visitors; refer drug questions to pharmacists.
+ Maintain and update automated med stations, unit stock, emergency boxes, and crash carts.
Filling
+ Work in Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using aseptic technique.
+ Assist in filling medication orders with correct labeling, counting, and stocking.
+ Assist in preparing oral and injectable medications (IV admixtures, TPN) using proper technique.
Distribution
+ Develop and maintain positive service relationships during medication distribution.
+ Participate in distribution of medication cassettes, emergency carts, and controlled substances.
+ Retrieve and return discontinued medications for credit if applicable.
Investigational
+ Assist in procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational drugs..
Associate:
Starting Rate: $18.04
Qualifications:
+ Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following:
+ Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
+ Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience
+ Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System

+ ORDER ENTRY
+ Assist with medication order entry into pharmacy system, including IV admixtures and TPN, under pharmacist supervision.
+ ADJUDICATION/BILLING
+ Submit prescription info to correct insurance processor.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve rejected claims.
+ Coordinate multiple benefit payers (e.g., Medicare).
+ Obtain necessary paperwork, including assignment of benefit forms.
+ High school diploma or equivalent OR completion of accredited pharmacy technician program.
+ Plus one of the following:
+ Two years of pharmacy technician experience OR
+ Enrollment in good standing as a pharmacy student.
+ Demonstrated competency in three (3) of the following fourteen (14) skills listed aboveLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Non-licensed Pharmacy Technicians, working in a New York facility are not permitted to perform Sterile Compounding.
