In this role, the Manufacturing Manager will lead a team of individual contributors and supervisors, driving performance management and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Manager will develop and execute tactical and operational plans for the Manufacturing Assembly team, aligning efforts with organizational objectives and business goals.
The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for resource allocation across manufacturing, materials, facilities, distribution, engineering, and maintenance to ensure seamless, cost-effective, and compliant production processes. Serving as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, the Manufacturing Manager will direct strategic initiatives and ensure all operations support the forecasted product demand and inventory targets.
This position manages all manufacturing activities within the Manufacturing Value Stream organization, producing biomaterial components for medical devices. The Manufacturing Manager will lead the production process to meet global schedules while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Line Management, the Manufacturing Manager will develop the team, drive year-over-year improvements, and ensure the department’s activities support the company’s organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
+ **Lead & Develop Teams:** Manage and coach a team of supervisors and staff, ensuring high performance through effective performance management and talent development.
+ **Strategic Planning & Communication:** Develop tactical and operational plans aligned with organizational goals; clearly communicate objectives and expectations to managers, supervisors, and team members.
+ **Operational Oversight:** Direct manufacturing, quality inspection, production control, inventory, procurement, and facilities to ensure smooth, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
+ **Resource Allocation:** Optimize use of personnel, machinery, and materials to support continuous improvement initiatives and meet production targets.
+ **Quality & Compliance:** Enforce adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (QSR, ISO, EHS). Lead efforts to address non-conformities and sustain high-quality output.
+ **Process Improvement:** Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and Manufacturing Excellence initiatives to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance process efficiency.
+ **Team Development:** Lead and develop supervisory and operational staff, fostering growth and continuous learning.
+ **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Product Development teams to support new product launches and process improvements.
+ **Performance Monitoring:** Regularly review business performance, KPIs, and compliance metrics; implement corrective actions as needed.
+ **Safety & Culture:** Promote a safe working environment and model Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Principles in daily activities.
+ **Regulatory & Policy Compliance:** Ensure all activities meet applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies.
+ **Reporting & Communication:** Provide updates on operational performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
Qualifications
**Education:** Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent University degree required; focused degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field preferred. Advanced degrees preferred
Required:
+ Minimum six (6) years of relevant professional work experience
+ Manufacturing experience, including experience in a leadership role
+ Proven experience in regulated environments such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals
+ Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
+ Experience managing budgets, resources, and projects within a manufacturing setting
+ Familiarity with FDA regulations and compliance requirements
+ Demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive operational improvements
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment
Preferred:
+ Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Process Excellence
+ Knowledge of quality systems like ISO and QSR
+ Experience with capacity planning, resource management, and project management
Other:
+ May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites
