    The Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) Team at Iowa Workforce Development is accepting applications for full-time Business Engagement Workforce Program Coordinator role in our IowaWORKSoffices

     

    Domicile will be determined based on the hired candidate’s location at one of our IowaWorkscenters.

    Job Description and Responsibilities:

    Coordinate business engagement services for the IVRS division. Establish and maintain professional relationships with businesses and community partners to effectively expand employment opportunities for IVRS customers. Collaborate with IVRS teams, the IWD business engagement division and critical partners/stakeholders to ensure businesses have access to resources and expertise necessary to create solutions to workforce and business needs. Work with businesses to ensure their job postings, descriptions, applications, and interviews are disability-friendly and accessible to individuals with disabilities. Coordinate with employers to develop new or modified positions that will utilize the IVRS job candidates' qualifications.

     

    Project job task analysis to businesses to better understand jobs. Complete ADA safety assessments and make recommendations to the business to ensure the workplace is disability-friendly and compliant. Research and utilize evidence-based practices in identifying barriers and solutions for both the business and individual with a disability. Provide current and relevant labor market information to local offices on what business and industry requires. Provide training and guidance to VR staff in understanding business needs. Market VR job candidates and services to business and industry. Serve as primary point of contact for business, in collaboration with the IWD Business Engagement Team. Track the successes, the networks, the requests, etc. for demonstrating successful connections. Maintain resource guides, internal controls, and other business engagement documents for the agency.

     

    Serve as the coordinator of business engagement expertise to businesses, critical partners, and IVRS staff. Apply in-depth knowledge of the VR program (mission, values, scope of services, incentives, services) in educating staff and businesses regarding potential benefits associated with businesses. Collaborate with other business engagement team members to effectively respond to business needs. Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state recruitment strategies.

     

    Provide information to IVRS staff and businesses regarding the required components of business engagement services. Coordinates all aspects of IVRS Business Engagement services in compliance with RSA regulations, ensuring decisions regarding the dual customer approach positively impact the VR division. Maximize job candidate employment outcomes by strategically working with IVRS, IWD divisions, and WIOA partners, and businesses to research, develop, and implement creative and innovative approaches to meeting customer and business needs. Identify service delivery opportunities, gaps, etc. and prepare customers to become successfully employed.

     

    Participate in state and national events focused on business engagement where connections with business and industry can be made. Review and understand federal and state regulations and policy to provide accurate information and ensure compliance with service to employers. Review agency strategic plan and provide data as requested for division performance measures. Provide technical assistance on 503, ADA, Job Analysis, and disability employment-related legislation. Provide business resource support in areas of disability consultation, reasonable accommodations and Work Opportunity Tax Credit. Consult with VR leadership team as necessary to leverage VR resources and minimize duplication. Leverage service system collaboration (e.g., Local Workforce Development Areas, Local Economic Development Agency, Iowa Workforce Development, Area Agencies on Aging, Community Rehabilitation Providers, Iowa Department for the Blind, etc.). Develop sector strategies to create a system for effective placement strategies supporting a job driven model of employment.

     

    The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check conducted by the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and experience equaling three years of full-time work involving employment interviewing, counseling, management, program planning, or occupational, budget, or labor market analysis;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education to a maximum of four years;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting graduate level course work in business or public administration, economics, planning or closely related areas for experience on the basis of 30 semester hours for each year of required experience to a maximum of two years;

    OR

    current employees of the Iowa Workforce Development Department can qualify with two years of full-time work involving employment interviewing, counseling, management, program planning, or occupational, budget, or labor market analysis.
