Summary:
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Public Health, Bureau of HIV, STI, and Hepatitis is seeking a STI Data Specialist to join our team!
Join Our Team as an STI Data Specialist, STI Program
Are you a detail-oriented public health professional with a passion for data?
We're looking for an STI Data Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in our STI surveillance efforts. This position is one of three core data roles in the program, and you'll work closely with your teammates to achieve our goals.
Here’s what you'll do:
+ Lead STI Surveillance: You'll be a primary point person for reviewing and interpreting lab and medical reports, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and entered into our surveillance systems. A significant portion of your work will involve extensive use of data systems and spreadsheets to manage, assess, and ensure quality information. You’ll use these data to produce reports and prioritize cases for public health follow-up.
+ Collaborate and Communicate: You'll serve as a vital link between our program and local and other state health departments, ensuring a smooth exchange of critical data. You'll also be a key liaison for medical providers and labs, offering technical assistance and promoting efficient reporting methods.
+ Provide Expert Guidance: In this role, you'll communicate testing and treatment recommendations, interpret complex lab data, and ensure disease reporting compliance.
+ Support the Team: You'll be an essential part of our dedicated team of data specialists, providing operational support to the broader STI Program and disease intervention efforts.
This position is ideal for someone who can manage data with precision, collaborate effectively with various partners, and help drive public health investigations.
Previous experience working in public health and familiarity with medical and laboratory terminology is preferred.
