Job Description
Schedules appointments for services at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as indicated by physician orders.
- Prepares the needed documentation and materials for pre-review by UIHC staff.
- Reviews files in order to prioritize and make the appropriate referrals.
- Notifies and coordinates with other departments of the appointments either verbally and/or in written communication with a weekly trip sheet to include Health Services trip calendar and IMCC database UIHC admissions calendar.
Responsible for scheduling daily work flow in the health services clinic area.
- Generate schedules for nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, lab, dental, psychiatrist, etc.
- Coordinates with security transport officers to assure incarcerated individuals (I/I) are escorted to health services for their scheduled appointments.
Filing and or scanning of medical documents into the medical record (EMR and or hard copy)
- Request/Contact local hospital and specialty clinic medical records for dictated notes from off site appointments for I/Is for continuity of care.
Ensure proper administration and documentation of medications.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately.
- Clean medication carts.
- Deliver medication to units as needed.
- Performs basic clinical duties such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures, pulse oximeter, vision screenings.
- Documents in medical records according to DOC standards.
- Collaboratively coordinates and works with the LPN/RN.
- Answer phone calls and direct to appropriate staff.
- Be aware of and comply with all policies/procedures.
Attend training, in-service and meetings as directed.
- Coordinates and assists in scheduled activities for I/Is.
- May perform housekeeping tasks in order to maintain cleanliness of the health services area.
- Completion of Mandatory reporter.
- Completion of CPR/First Aid.
- Completes DOC medication administration course every 3 years.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Applicants must meet the selective requirement as well as the minimum qualifications to qualify for referral.

116 Certified Nurse Aide/Orderly
Requires 6 months’ experience as a CNA.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
The equivalent of two years of full-time clerical work experience involving the use of medical terminology;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of one year of full-time work experience as a Resident Treatment Worker, Pharmacy Assistant or a position providing nursing care or clerical work in a state institution providing medical services shall be considered qualified.
