Function of Position:
The purpose of a Federal Work Study student employee (STACer) is to support Monroe Community College's Student Technology Advancement Center by helping peers and staff overcome challenges with instructional technology. In doing so, they both deliver just-in-time technology assistance and build their own professional, communication, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for success in future academic and workplace environments
This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Assist students and employees with learning and navigating instructional technologies (e.g., Brightspace, Microsoft 365, myMCC portal).
+ Provide front-line assistance in the STAC center, including logging student visits, maintaining a welcoming environment, and performing bi-hourly walkthroughs of the library computer areas.
+ Complete administrative tasks such as copying, emailing, and preparing training materials.
+ Model professional customer service by using the STAC S.T.A.R.T. steps (Start, Take, Address, Respond, Transition) to engage visitors positively and effectively

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)
+ Strong comfort with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
+ Familiarity with Brightspace and the myMCC portal.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Organized, punctual, and reliable with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
+ Ability to work well with others, remain patient, and maintain a positive, customer-service-focused attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Prior experience assisting others with technology or providing customer service.
+ Comfortable presenting to peers or groups such as student clubs or classrooms.
+ Demonstrated time management skills in balancing work and academics.
+ Experience adapting to diverse learners, including ESOL students or those with accessibility needs.
+ Interest in developing professional skills in teaching, leadership, and digital literacy
+ Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
