    Job Description

    Our client, a mission-driven medical device company specializing in diabetes management, is seeking a mid-level Android Engineer to support sustaining and maintenance efforts for their commercial mobile application that integrates with a connected medical device. This engineer will focus heavily on debugging, issue resolution, and improving overall app stability and performance in a production environment with a user base in the tens of thousands. The role involves monitoring customer complaints, addressing field issues, and triaging and resolving bugs in partnership with QA, Product, and Cloud teams. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys working in sustaining engineering and thrives in a collaborative environment. Once app health and maintenance goals are achieved, there will be opportunities to transition into new feature development.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - 3+ years in Android development, with a focus on maintenance and sustaining projects

     

    - Strong proficiency in Kotlin (Java helpful)

     

    - Hands-on experience with app maintenance, sustaining engineering, and bug fixing

     

    - Strong understanding of version control (Git)

     

    - Expertise in using debugging tools and writing unit tests for mobile applications.

     

    - Degree in Computer Science or related technical field - Experience with Bluetooth/BLE connectivity

     

    - Background in regulated industries or medical devices

     

    - Familiarity with AWS or backend cloud services

     

    - Experience working on published commercial apps with large-scale user bases (10,000+)
