    Job Description

    BAE Systems is seeking an experienced technical writer/editor to support the Sentinel Program Execution Process and Control section. Program Execution is the hub of all programmatic activities for the Sentinel Program Office and is responsible for integrating functional expertise across the program office to inform programmatic decisions and support program execution.

     

    The technical writer/editor will provide technical expertise to the government customer in developing and maintaining robust program processes and documentation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to - editing program documents, often substantively reworking the language for clarity, consistency, and conformance to writing best practices; documenting, developing, and coordinating program processes; preparing documents for approval; publishing documents internally; and periodically reviewing published documents, including coordinating revisions with the document owner.

     

    The technical writer/editor is more than just a proofreader. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in transforming rough drafts into polished documents, including coordinating with subject matter experts on the content to ensure clarity and accuracy. Beyond fixing grammar mistakes, the technical editor has an eye for how to make the document better and takes the initiative, when appropriate, to improve the writing while preserving the author s meaning.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Bachelor s degree in English, communications, or a related field

    + Minimum 7 years of experience in technical writing and editing (5 years of experience with a Master s degree)

    + Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

    + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including template creation, styles creation, hierarchal numbering, and form fields

    + Strong interpersonal skills; team player

    + Advanced editing skills: grammar and punctuation, writing standards and best practices, plain language, style guides, version control

    + Technical writing skills: experience drafting and polishing acquisition documents, charters, processes, and plans

    + Understanding of DoD/DoE acquisitions and publications/document management processes and practices. Strong candidates without former experience in DoD acquisitions will also be considered

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + ICBM weapon system/program support experience

    + Proficiency using Jira and Confluence

    + SharePoint site administration experience

    + Experience with the Air Force s Tongue and Quill, Air University style guide, the Chicago Manual of Style, or the US Gov t plain language guidelines.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $105835 - $179920

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
