Stanford University's Continuing Studies Program (CSP) is a premier adult learning program offering more than500courses, workshops, and seminars to more than20,000students annually. The mission of Stanford Continuing Studies is to share the rich educational resources of Stanford University with adult students living in the Bay Area and beyond.
Stanford Continuing Studies is seeking a **Business and Technology Curriculum Director** to join our team. As Business and Technology Curriculum Director, you will simultaneously work to maintain and improve the program’s existing business and technology curricula while also helping to re-envision this curricula and programming to more effectively respond to dynamic consumer demand.Under the general direction of the Associate Dean for CSP, this position will function with a high degree of autonomy and play a significant role in program development, long-range strategic planning, and partnership development.The role will encompass both teaching (25%) and administrative duties (75%), ensuring comprehensive involvement in both program strategy and execution.The BTCD willbe expected to conduct market research to provide expert recommendations on solutions and strategies that optimize enrollments and revenue; drive recruitment of leading instructors, including those within Stanford faculty and academic staff; build strategic partnerships with corporate and Stanford-based groups; collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to enhance marketing and outreach efforts; and lead the ongoing renewal and strategic development of the curricula to ensure offerings remain current, high-impact, and optimized for growth and revenue generation.
This is a one-year fixed-term position. Additional work opportunities may be available subject to budget review.
**Note the following position will be based on Stanford’s main campus. TheBusiness and Technology Curriculum Directorrole is eligible for consideration of a flexible hybrid work arrangement, subject to operational need.
Responsibilities include** **:
• Lead the strategic development and ongoing refinement of the business and technology curricula with an aim towards increased enrollments and revenue generation. Provide data-informed insights to leadership to support enrollment forecasting, budget planning, and marketing strategy, ensuring curriculum development aligns with program goals and learner demand.
• Design and lead research efforts to inform business and technology program development and crafting of the strategic plan. This will include exploring education, business and technology trends, major growth areas, and best practices from peer school and corporate competitors.
• Source, collect and analyze data to regularly assess the effectiveness and relevance of current offerings and inform ongoing curriculum development and strategic programming. Utilizing this data and subject matter expertise of industry trends, provide expert recommendations on solutions and strategies to encourage areas of growth that will help increase enrollments and revenue.
• Teach a minimum course load of four, 10-week courses annually (1 per quarter, or its equivalent).
• Design rubric to provide measurable and objective assessment standards for curriculum; codify best practices and program norms.
• Develop the roadmap for a revamped curriculum based on research and consumer demand.
• Contribute to strategic program planning by identifying emerging industry trends, learner demand, and workforce needs that inform the development of new courses, credentials, and potential interdisciplinary offerings.
• Control financial sustainability by using enrollment and performance data to prioritize high-impact offerings, streamline the course portfolio, and guide resource allocation toward programs with the greatest growth and revenue potential.
• Advise and support new and repeat instructors on issues related to pedagogy, instructional technology and student management issues.
• Conduct class visits (over Zoom or in the classroom) to monitor course quality and respond to occasional implementation issues; provide guidance to help instructors align with program standards.
• Review evaluations and provide feedback, coaching and mentorship to instructors. Communicate findings, progress and results with Continuing Studies leadership and staff.
• In partnership with leadership and the marketing team, develop targeted outreach strategies for business and tech courses, draft communications to stakeholders, promoting and describing the program vision, value, and offerings.
• Edit and proof course catalog entries and provide meaningful input toward marketability. This includes revising and editing course descriptions, proofing of catalog pages, and providing some assistance to staff in turning down non-selected proposals.
• Explore strategic partnerships with other university programs and groups (or corporations) to enhance and expand the tech/business curriculum and its visibility.

To be successful in the position, you will bring:
+ Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
+ Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.
+ Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
+ Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
+ Ability to oversee and direct staff.
+ Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.
+ Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
+ Highly skilled in data analytics, with previous experience in UX/market research.
+ Previous experience teaching adult learners in a business and/or technology field.
+ Background in ethical and sustainable business and/or technology practices.
+ 5 years work experience in a leadership role, preferably in a business or technology-related industry.
_The expected pay range for this position is $116,966 to $130,339 per annum._
