The Databrary video library project, funded by NIH, NSF, and various foundations and co-directed by Karen Adolph at New York University and Rick Gilmore at Penn State University, invites applications for a 1-year Project Coordinator/User Liaison position beginning in Fall 2025. Coordinator/Liaison would directly report to the Databrary Project Manager, Kasey Soska at New York University. The position includes a 6-month probationary period, and renewal of the position is contingent on performance and funding availability.

Databrary is a secure online repository and suite of tools for hosting identifiable research data, including video, as well as annotating and sharing video data. The service infrastructure is hosted at NYU. Databrary is used by a large and growing community of researchers across the globe, including some large-scale research projects, as a central place to store and share research data. We seek a Project Coordinator/User Liaison to support the growing needs of the Databrary repository and userbase. Duties include user support, software interface testing, curation services, project coordination, and assistance to the project directors and other Databrary staff. Duties also include interfacing with the software developers for Databrary and related tools, NYU IT, as well as outside collaborators. The position is full-time and in-person at NYU.

    Position Responsibilities:

+ Attend all Databrary/Datavyu meetings (e.g., software development, policies, operations, planning)

+ Conduct user acceptance testing and quality assurance on new features, updated interfaces, and performance changes. File tickets with software developers and NYU IT as needed. Provide input on design and UX.

+ Assist in curating existing and new datasets for Databrary users, including project descriptions, metadata, and organization. Use Databrary API for bulk upload.

+ Communicate with and provide support to Databrary users, including technical issues, curation, and account creation and management. Provide reports twice per month to the Databrary directors on user stories and needs.

+ Update user guides, best practices, and software screenshots for user support.

+ Coordinate project goals and timelines, track to-dos by the directors and project staff, keep record of meetings notes and agendas. Use project tracking tools, including Asana, Jira, and Google suite to align project aims with grants and deadlines.

+ Report to the Databrary directors (Adolph, Gilmore) and Product Manager (Soska) about weekly progress, blockers, and tickets filed with developers and IT.

+ Administrative duties include: purchasing and shipping research materials; maintaining records of sites and staff; support on IRB protocols; coordinating project events and meetings; assisting in expense and grant management; communicating with university staff and administration; and general support for the Databrary directors and Product Manager.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully in person.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications include a BA/BS in psychology, human-computer interaction, data science, or a related field; previous work in user support or UI/UX testing; and experience in organizing and presenting user feedback of software. The ideal candidate must also have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

The position will begin October 16, 2025 or as soon as it is filled. To apply, please send a cover letter, CV/resume, and names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three references via Interfolio.
